Who should attend this course?

Meeting the Care Certificate Standard 12 for those working in Health and Social care, First Aid is a great skill you can use both at work but also at home.

This practical course is designed to equip you with the skills you need to be an effective first aider. This comprehensive interactive course provides each participant with a plethora of practical skills. We can also taylor this course to include more specific examples of first aid treatment to your individual work place – just ask!

Learning Aims:

To equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills to be an effective first aider


Learning Outcomes:

  • State the role of the first aider
  • Describe available first aid equipment
  • Assess first aid situations and circumstances in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use an AED as per instructions
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is having a heart attack,
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is having a stroke,
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who has burn or scold
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is has a head injury – Concussion, compression or skull fracture
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries
  • Explain the importance of preventing cross-infection
  • Identify the need for recording incidents and actions
